Your application has been accepted and your audition is scheduled? Congratulations! Here is the complete checklist of what to prepare for the big day โ and what is useless.
The checklist for the big day
- Your valid ID โ this is THE non-negotiable document. Age verification is mandatory before any commitment, no exceptions. Without it, no casting.
- A simple, comfortable outfit โ no need to go over the top. An outfit in which you feel comfortable and confident is more than enough.
- Your charged phone โ for last-minute exchanges and for noting the answers to your questions.
- Water and a light snack โ an audition can take a while.
- Your questions โ note in advance what you want to know: schedule, pay, conditions, distribution.
What is useless
- A professional portfolio โ for a first casting, your application photos are enough.
- A paper application file โ everything is handled beforehand through the form.
- Money โ and this is the most important point. A serious agency will never ask you to pay: not for the casting, not for the file, not for the photos. At FrenchCasting, it is the opposite: the audition is paid on the same day.
The ideal outfit
There is no magic recipe, but a few principles: favour comfort and self-confidence. Avoid overworked outfits that do not look like you. The goal of an audition is to discover who you are, not a character.
The questions to ask
Coming with questions shows your seriousness. Here are the ones we recommend always asking:
- What is the exact schedule of the shoot?
- What is the pay and when is it paid? (At FrenchCasting: the same day.)
- How does distribution work? On which platforms?
- Is masked shooting possible?
- What are my rights and how can I leave the project if needed?
The human factor
Finally, the simplest of all: arrive rested, punctual and authentic. An audition is a meeting, not an exam. Our team is there to put you at ease in a private and secure setting.
